Remembering fallen Yukla 27 crew
U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Clint Hammer, 962nd Airborne Air Control Squadron director of operations, and Daryn Moore, member of Scouts BSA Troop 54, dedicate the pavilion Moore built at the Yukla 27 crash site as “Hangar 27” during the the Yukla 27 25th anniversary memorial ceremony at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Sept. 22, 2020. Yukla 27, a U.S. Air Force E-3 Sentry airborne warning and control system aircraft assigned to the 962nd AACS, encountered a flock of geese Sept. 22, 1995, and crashed shortly after takeoff on a routine surveillance training sortie, killing all 24 Canadian and U.S. Airmen aboard.
