Arctic Warrior of the Week

U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Laura Marquis, center, a dental assistant journeyman with the 673d Dental Squadron, is recognized as the Arctic Warrior of the Week by U.S. Air Force Col. Kirsten Aguilar, left, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and 673d Air Base Wing commander, and U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Lee Mills, JBER and 673d ABW command chief, at JBER, Alaska, Dec. 11, 2020. Since arriving at JBER in 2017, Marquis has assisted 11 dental providers and performed more than 1,200 oral preventive procedures. Marquis recently led the Medical Control Center, providing continuity during a critical transition and training incoming teammates. She was responsible for sustaining 24-hour operations and providing 52 situation reports for the 673d ABW’s Health Protection Condition operations. Marquis earned a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Wellness and is now pursuing a Master of Public Health degree. Furthermore, Marquis is her unit’s Physical Training Leader and competes in state-wide bodybuilding competitions, winning third place in Alaska’s State Bodybuilding Championships. The AWOW is an award highlighting JBER’s top-performing Airmen.
