Arctic Warrior of the Week: A1C Katherine Hernandez

Airman 1st Class Katherine Hernandez, 673d Medical Support Squadron information systems technician is recognized as the Arctic Warrior of the Week at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, April 6, 2018. Hernandez provides support for 1,300 Department of Defense and VA users. As a medical group network administrator, she oversaw management of 569 devices and assisted in the Windows 10 upgrade, helping her flight meet the DOD/CIO’s mandate more than two weeks ahead of schedule. Furthermore, Hernandez has been entrusted as a government purchase card holder where she assists in executing a $90,000 annual budget, while validating information technology requirements. Exemplifying the Whole Airman Concept, she has contributed more than 16 hours to JBADD, saving a total of 37 service members’ lives and careers. She also serves as a junior achievement mentor, providing economics and free enterprise lessons to 25 elementary school students.
