Wind and harsh weather can hit anytime; have a kit and a plan
A SHAW contractor cuts up a fallen tree in front of the Soldiers' Chapel. An arctic storm wreaked havoc on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Sept. 4 and 5 causing widespread damage as well as power and water outages. The Richardson-side of the installation was the hardest hit; uprooting dozens of the trees and scattering debris all around. The arctic storm, which blow up from the Bering Sea, brought winds up to 100 mph according to the National Weather Service. (U.S. Air Force photo by Bob Hall/JBER Public Affairs)
