Sheltered eagles

ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Tech. Sgt. Christopher Odden, 381st Intelligence Squadron, holds One-eyed Jack, one of two injured eagles living in the Yukla 27 aviary here, to be examined March 28, 2009. Odden and other Soaring on Broken Wings volunteers helped capture and relocate Jack and Notch from the base's aviary to the Fort Richardson Flight Center following multiple eruptions of Mount Redoubt. The SoBW cares for the 3rd Wing's injured bald eagles housed within the aviary. This care includes, but is not limited to, feeding, grooming and grounds maintenance of the birds and aviary. The eagles will be housed at Fort Rich until it is safe for them to return to the aviary here. The volunteers worked with the Bird Treatment and Learning Center and the flight center to make this temporary move possible. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Stephanie Odden)
