UAS training to aid in disasters
ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Jeff Rothman, Poker Flat Research Range pilot with the University of Alaska Fairbanks, carries an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) after a training flight as he and Greg Walker, Poker Flat Research Range manager, walk through the launch area April 29, 2010, during Arctic Edge 10. The major objective of the exercise is to give federal, state and local authorities the opportunity to operate together in a natural disaster scenario requiring an interagency response.
