673d ABW STEP promotion
U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Jared Poe, a defender assigned to the 673d Security Forces Squadron, was promoted to technical sergeant by U.S. Air Force Col. Kirsten Aguilar, the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and 673d Air Base Wing commander, at JBER, Alaska, Oct. 25, 2021. Poe was selected under the “Stripes for Exceptional Performers” (STEP) program, which allows commanders to recognize enlisted Airmen for exemplary performance. Poe is currently the noncommissioned officer in charge of the First-Term Airmen Center where he works selflessly to assist Airmen fresh from technical school adjust to life in the operational Air Force and at JBER. His experience at FTAC, connecting new Airmen with resources and helping agencies, will serve him well in his goal of becoming a first sergeant and then chief master sergeant. An active outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, Poe is also working toward earning a Bachelor of Science in conservation. Only 180 STEP promotions are given in the Air Force each year.
