It's summer time, not quite, but with Polar Force 13-3 underway and PCS season around the corner we are reminded that practicing operational security is always important. Whether your actions are supporting mission readiness or protecting your identity, practicing good OPSEC can always be helpful.

Here are a few tips to help you protect sensitive information on and off duty:

Required On Duty:

· Protect or shred all documents; 673 ABW/CC has established 100% shred guidance. This means if you no longer need it, shred it.
· Do not post any critical or sensitive information or personal identifiable information.
· Digitally sign email whenever necessary to be assured of a reader's identity.
· Only discuss critical or sensitive information with individuals who "need to know."
· Use "Line Up/Down" when using the telephone or land mobile radios.
· Encrypt emails when they contain FOUO, PII (i.e., SSAN, birth date, passport number), identifiable health information, or OPSEC critical information.
· Know your unit's Critical Information List which identifies areas, activities, functions or other information requiring protection.

Recommended Off Duty:

· Shred all paper with personal information after use.
· Ensure you only provide sensitive information to people who "need to know."
· Secure your account, username, and pin number information.
· Be cautious about who knows information regarding your travel plans.
· Report the unusual and be alert!
