U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Edwin Alpizar (left), 773d CES structural craftsman, U.S. Air Force Airman Tyler Cross, 773d Civil Engineer Squadron (CES) electrical power production apprentice, and U.S. Air Force Airmen 1st Class Wyatt Johnson, 673d Communications Squadron server operations technician, watch an F-22 Raptor taxi during an Agile Combat Employment (ACE) aircraft refueling exercise as part of a Polar Force 20-1 training and mission readiness exercise at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Oct. 3, 2019. Polar Force 20-1 is designed to exercise multiple elements of the ACE concept of operations. These elements include generating fifth-generation combat power from austere locations, command and control using non-traditional methods, and rapid airlift capabilities to sustain a forward operating location. The ACE concept enables the 3rd Wing to deliver lethal airpower for the United States, even in a contested environment.
