Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Tour Program

Tour Requests

Base tours are offered to local civic organizations, schools and youth groups to educate the community about the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson missions. They are tailored to coincide with the interests of different demographics while not compromising mission requirements.

Tours are free of charge and can be subject to last-minute cancellations due to mission needs and resource availability. As soon as our mission allows, we will attempt to reschedule any tour cancelled for mission-related or weather-related reasons.

Entry Requirements:

A background check must be completed for all guests 16 and older. Each guest’s (regardless of age) full name and date of birth must be provided. Additionally, the driver license or state ID number for all those who are 16 years old or older must be included.

Policy:

  • Public tours are available to groups of 10 to 40 people. Only one tour per organization/school per calendar year.
  • Information requested by Public Affairs must be returned no later than 21 days prior to the confirmed tour date to ensure time for proper coordination. Failure to meet this requirement can result in cancellation.
  • Cameras are allowed on the tour. However, there may be some restrictions. Your tour guide will have details.
  • If a group is more than 15 minutes late for their tour, it will be cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

JBER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CANCEL A SCHEDULED TOUR AT ANY TIME DUE TO MISSION REQUIREMENTS.

Requesting a tour:

  • Tour requests must be submitted no later than 30 days prior to the date of the tour. Requests must be submitted through the 673rd Wing Public Affairs office and are accepted up to 90 days in advance.
  • Tours are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Sending and receiving a request does not confirm your requested tour date.
  • To submit a request for your group tour, please email jber.pa@us.af.mil or call call 907-551-8996.
  • Every effort will be made to honor your request, but ultimately, we work around our daily operations schedule and mission requirements.

Transportation:

Groups are responsible for transportation large enough to carry their entire group, unless otherwise coordinated with the Public Affairs office. All buses/vans must arrive at the Boniface gate for security processing.

Please confirm vehicle information and estimated arrival time with our office before arriving. Buses will be met at the gate by a member from the Public Affairs office, who will accompany the group onboard the bus and will remain with them for the duration of the tour.

Static Request

Requests for aircraft static displays will only be considered for the following:

  • Air shows
  • Airport events
  • Expositions, fairs and public events which contribute to the public knowledge of Armed Forces equipment and capabilities, including recruiting and ROTC events.
Fill out a request at the U.S. Air Force Aerial Events website. Please be sure to follow all steps for the request. After US Air Force officials approve support for your event, you may contact our office at 907-552-8941. JBER staff do not approve aircraft static display requests.  If you have questions about how to fill out the request, please contact our office.

Requests received less than 60 days before the event decreases the possibility of approval, due to inadequate time for coordination.

Please keep in mind, military missions and training take priority.

To check the status of an Air Force aircraft request go to U.S. Air Force Aerial Events website.

Request for Support

The military belongs to the American people. Common ownership dictates Department of Defense resources be committed to supporting events and activities of mutual interest and benefit. However, limitations of time and money make it impossible to grant all requests. DoD and its subordinate agencies cannot do for one what it cannot do for all.

Need a speaker for your event? Contact JBER to have one of our speakers come to your organization’s activity and make you aware of the various programs JBER is involved in. This is a great opportunity to meet an airman or soldier and find out about the base’s latest accomplishments, current projects and future plans.

DoD policy prohibits:

  • Endorsing and or appearing to endorse a specific organization, product, or commercial service.
  • Using military resources when such assets are reasonably available from commercial sources and where such support would be, in fact, perceived as unfair competition.
  • Using military resources or personnel to increase sales, business traffic, or attendance, such as grand openings.
  • Using personnel outside military bases to act as guards, parking lot attendants, runners, messengers, or baggage handlers.
  • Active-duty military participation in fundraising activities, excluding the Combined Federal Campaign and military relief societies.

Additional policies and guidelines may apply.

For events which meet DoD support requirements, fill out a Support Request Form, DD Form 2536, and submit it to jber.pa@us.af.mil. If you are not contacted about your request within two business days, call 907-551-8996.

Please be aware, even though a request may be approved, the support can be canceled at any time in order to meet military mission requirements.
