Red Flag-Alaska brings F-22 units together
ELMENDORF AIR FORCE BASE, Alaska -- Airman 1st Class Robert Miller assists Capt. Raymond Thaler before take off here during Red Flag-Alaska 09-3 July 29. Red Flag-Alaska is a Pacific Air Forces commander-based field training exercise for U.S. coalition forces flown under simulated air combat conditions. It provides joint offensive counter-air, interdiction close air support, and large force employment training in a simulated combat environment. Miller is a crew chief with the 49th Aircraft Maintanence Squadron and Thaler is an F-22 pilot with the 49th Operations Group, Holloman Air Force Base, N.M.
