MEDIA ADVISORY: 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Fire and Emergency Services will host a 9/11 memorial stair climb at the JBER fire training grounds Sept. 11, 2025.

Opening ceremonies will be hosted at the Frontier Theater and will begin at 8:45 a.m. At 9:15 a.m., 100 climbers from across the installation will don 60-pound gear and climb 110 flights of stairs to honor the memory of those who lost their lives on 9/11.

Media members will have opportunities to document and interview organizers and participants of the event.

Media outlets interested in covering the event must RSVP before 12:30 p.m., Sept. 10 by emailing or calling jber.pa.mediaops@us.af.mil or 907-551-8995 to ensure base access and public affairs escort to the event. Those attending will be given a time and a gate location to be escorted to the event site.
