Eagle River High School designated the 2022 Purple Star School

Eagle River High School in Eagle River, Alaska was designated the 2022 Purple Star School on April 15, 2022. The Purple Star Award is an annual designation given in April, the Month of the Military Child, to military friendly schools based on criteria established by the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development’s Purple Star Advisory Board.

2017 JBER Military Appreciation Picnic

Service members, dependents, and Department of Defense civilians attend the Military Appreciation Week picnic at the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Buckner Fitness Center fields June 16, 2017. Several organizations came together to provide a variety of family-fun activities such as competitive sporting events for the adults, face painting and bouncy houses for the children in addition to the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce-provided food and music during the annual event.

Groundbreaking construction begins on Fisher House II

The Fisher House of Alaska hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction for the Fisher House II June 6, 2017.  Since opening in 2012, the 12-suite Fisher House has been at maximum capacity.
