The Alaska Aces hockey team hosted a military appreciation series Nov. 12 and 13, facing off against the Ontario Reign.

At the beginning of the games and during breaks between periods, troops representing every branch of service participated in the event.

There was a large flag presentation, a fallen warrior ceremony, a military obstacle course and a military kids obstacle course.

Aces hockey players wore a special military appreciation jersey with silhouetted equipment representing every service, with the words "Freedom is not free" on the front and "Gone but not forgotten" on the back.

After sweeping Ontario on their home turf in a two game series, the Aces lost both series games by one goal, 2-1 on Nov. 12, and 4-3 on Nov. 13.

The Aces are 7-4-1 on the year.
