The Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Legal Assistance Offices provide legal assistance services to eligible beneficiaries.
The Army Legal Assistance Office provides a divorce/separation briefing weekly on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. at 600 Richardson Drive, Suite B341
For Army-specific legal matters, such as GOMOR rebuttals, FLIPL rebuttals, and residency affidavits, please schedule an appointment using this link.

Who is eligible for assistance? Active-duty, service members, dependents of active-duty service members, retirees, retiree dependents, Reserve/Guard members on Title 10 orders, and academy/contract ROTC cadets. Reserve and National Guard personnel who are not in active status can receive the following services if within 90 days of deployment: wills, medical directives, POA, SCRA, USERRA, and notary services. (Per regulation, services are provided subject to availability of staff, resources, and expertise. The highest priority is given to AF personnel w/deployment-related matters.)
What kind of help can I get? Topics include but are not limited to:
- Notaries and powers of attorney
- Divorce
- Wills and estate planning
- Consumer and financial affairs
- Family Law: adoption, dependent support, name change, child custody
- Immigration: Military are encouraged to seek assistance from the base immigration office.
- Landlord/tenant: We can assist tenants. By regulation, we cannot assist landlords.
- Personal Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA)
- Taxation (no individual filings)
- Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA)
Notaries and Powers of Attorney (POAs):
- Available on a walk-in basis at the location/times listed below. The office is closed on holidays, PACAF resiliency days, and wing training days (3rd Thursday of each month).
- Appointments are required for more than five POAs and notarizing closing documents. Call (907) 552-3048.
