National Airborne Day

U.S. Army paratroopers from the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 11th Airborne Division, the “Arctic Angels,” celebrate at an award ceremony at Malemute Drop Zone at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 16, 2024. The award was for teams that participated in a competition where squads had to land as close to the targets on the drop zone as possible. Each team member’s distance from the target was measured, and the team with the lowest total score – closest to target – was declared the winner.
