673d CS Airmen integral in global communications system
Power amplifiers and a combiner change four 100-milliwatt radio signals into one 4,000-watt signal, which is then sent from the High Frequency Global Communications System antenna tower at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Jan. 24, 2022. The antenna is one of the U.S. Air Force’s 13 HFGCS stations, which are strategically located around the world for communication between the U.S military’s ground stations and in-flight aircraft, seaborne vessels and submarines. U.S. Airmen with the 673d Communications Squadron were critical to the install of the 120-foot tall tower. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Samuel Colvin)
