Arctic Warrior of the Week
U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Jonathan Elam, center, 673d Communications Squadron antenna systems apprentice, is recognized as the Arctic Warrior of the Week by U.S. Air Force Col. Kirsten Aguilar, left, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and 673d Air Base Wing commander, and U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Lee Mills, JBER and 673d ABW command chief at JBER, Alaska, April 9, 2021. Elam is successfully tracking and documenting 57 unknown antennas across JBER-E as part of an antenna-assessment project. Additionally, Elam formulated a platform to fulfill communications requirements and tailor new standard operating procedures supporting the Alaska NORAD region, Alaskan Command, U.S. Army Alaska, and 11 Air Force missions. Elam was integral to maintenance of JBER’s high-frequency global communications systems, and transmit and receive sites. Lastly, he performed preventive maintenance inspections on three high-frequency antennas and (coordinated clearance of 15 acres of snow to allow access for emergency antenna repairs. The AWOW is an award highlighting JBER’s top-performing Airmen.
