Arctic Warrior of the Week

U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Evan K. Uehara, right, 773d Civil Engineer Squadron Power Production section journeyman, is recognized as the Arctic Warrior of the Week by U.S. Army Col. Dean Denter, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and 673d Air Base Wing vice commander, at JBER, Alaska, Sept. 18, 2020. Uehara was a pivotal Aircraft Arresting System team member during two fairlead beam roller overhauls, which involved replacing more than 100 critical components, helping guarantee the safety of F-22 Raptor aircraft caught by emergency arresting cable. Additionally, Uehara was a first responder to an electrical emergency outage where power systems provided emergency backup power to 12 mission-critical sites, including critical runway navigational aids. The AWOW is an award highlighting JBER’s top performing Airmen.
