The regiment was activated on Nov. 15, 1942, at Camp Toccoa, Ga., served with distinction in World War II, the Cold War, Vietnam, as well as the Global War on Terror and continues to uphold the high standards expected of an airborne unit in peacetime duties and on the field of battle.
