Sitka 43 continues to serve eight years after fatal crash
Debris from the 2010, fatal crash of Sitka 43 C-17 Globemaster III is lined up for removal in a storage yard at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Sept. 27, 2018. A team of airmen from various units worked together to dispose of the wreckage. After multiple shipments, the ‘Sitka 43’ wreckage is finding a new purpose at the Air Force Safety Center (AFSEC) Crash Lab at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M.
