J-bear tracking
James Wendland, 673d Civil Engineer Squadron chief conservation law enforcement officer, approaches a known black bear den with a wireless bear tracking system at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, April 16, 2018. Negligent refuse disposal practices are the leading cause of wildlife encounters in populated JBER communities. At JBER there are strict rules which regulate when tipster trashcans can be parked outside for disposal.
