JBER confronts sexual assault with awareness campaign

In April, the Department of Defense observes Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, offering an opportunity to continue to improve outreach and support to victims while also expanding prevention efforts. To raise awareness, members of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, created a silent display of 3,852 teal flags outside the commissary in the shape of a ribbon to represent the number of reports of sexual assault across the Army and Air Force in fiscal year 2016. For those who have experienced a sexual assault, resources are available at sapr.mil and the JBER SAPR office at 7153 Fighter Drive, JBER-E, or call 551-2020 or the SAPR/SHARP office hotline at 384-7272.
