3 Geronimo paratroopers throw live grenades at JBER

U.S. Army Pvt. Eriner Charles, a paratrooper assigned to 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Alaska, clears debris from the range after M67 fragmentation grenade live fire training at Kraft Range on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Dec. 12, 2017. A ‘pit’ noncommissioned officer supervised the Soldiers throwing grenades to maintain a safe instructional environment, enforce precaution standards, and direct them on proper handling of explosives. The fragmentation hand grenade has a lethal radius of five meters and can produce casualties up to 15 meters, dispersing fragments as far as 230 meters.
