Retired Maj. Gen. John Schaeffer Jr. laid to rest

Former Alaska National Guard adjutant general Maj. Gen. John Schaeffer Jr, is carried to his final resting place at Ivik, Alaska, August 31, 2016. Schaeffer enlisted in the Alaska National Guard in 1957, and served for 34 years. Schaeffer was the first Alaska Native two-star general of the Alaska National Guard and commissioner of the Alaska Department of Military and Veterans Affairs.
