Air Force Lt. Gen. Russell Handy greets friends and family from the cockpit of an F-22 Raptor after his final flight as Alaskan Command, Alaskan North American Aerospace Defense Region and 11th Air Force commander, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 10, 2016. Handy is a command pilot with more than 3,600 flight hours, primarily in the F-15 Eagle and F-22A Raptor. He has participated in numerous combat operations and deployments, including operations Desert Shield, Desert Storm, Desert Fox, Southern Watch, Noble Eagle, Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn.
