Tiny, dedicated crew on remote atoll supports Pacific air traffic
U.S. Marine Corps AV-8B Harriers from VMA-542 rest on the tarmac after landing at Wake Island Airfield in the mid-Pacific. Marine Attack Squadron 542 is based at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina. The Marines were participating in a trans-Pacific mission from the mainland U.S. to Japan.
