Families mark 20 years since tragic loss of AWACS crew
A monument outside 3rd Wing headquarters on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska stands as a memory of 24 fallen aviators who tragically perished in the only E-3 Sentry AWACS crash to date. The flight was supposed to be a routine flight in Sept. 1995, and has impacted the JBER community in ways still visible 20 years later. (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Kyle Johnson)
