Military aids Homer out of a “Rock and a Hard Place”

Air Force Senior Master Sgt. John Jennings Jr., Alaskan Command superintendent, command, control, communications and computer systems plans and future operations, and Army Staff Sgt. Lacey Steward, ALCOM command, control, communications and computer systems deployable communications NCO in charge, pose with ALCOM’s emergency response vehicle in a C-17 prior to takeoff March 19, 2015. The team flew to Homer, Alaska, to provide defense support of civil authorities in Exercise Rock in a Hard Place. The ERV provided emergency 72-hour information technology services for a disaster response exercise. The exercise scenario called for state and federal resources respond to assist the community of Homer and the Kenai Borough following a significant mudslide that damaged the South Peninsula Hospital and severed road and communications lines.
