Preventing domestic violence
Diann Richardson, far left, Daniel Francom and Jennifer Frysz man a ‘Thanks for Asking Phase 2: Bystander Action” campaign display during a Domestic Violence Prevention Month opening ceremony Oct. 1, 2014 at the Covenant House in Anchorage, Alaska. Richardson, Francom and Frysz are Family Advocacy Outreach managers on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. The purpose of the program is to raise awareness about domestic violence and to gauge how many people will question injured volunteers. Nearly one in four women, one in nine men and more than three million children have been affected by domestic violence in the country. According to Department of Defense records, in federal year 2011, 14,237 people in abusive relationships were supported by Family Advocacy. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Robert Barnett)
