Army Ten-Miler team zeroes in fitness at JBER HAWC
John Limon (left), Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson’s installation exercise physiologist for the Health Awareness and Wellness Center, attaches a breathing hose to Army Maj. Brian Mayer, the signal officer for U.S. Army Alaska’s 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, during a VO2 max test and gait analysis Oct. 4. Mayer will serve as captain for the USARAK Ten-Miler team as they travel to Washington to compete in the Army Ten-Miler, the second largest 10-mile race in the United States. Mayer and the rest of the team underwent a VO2 max test, or maximal oxygen uptake, and gait analysis to learn more about themselves as runners. (U.S. Army photo/Sgt. Eric-James Estrada)
