Royal New Zealand Air Force members bid farewell to the main body of United States Air Force Airmen departing RNZAF Base Ohakea, New Zealand, Nov. 25. More than 70 U.S. Airmen from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, and Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, deployed to the 517th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron to support Exercise Kiwi Flag. This group, from JBER, will board their home-station-bound C-17 Globemaster III after clearing customs. Kiwi Flag is a multilateral RNZAF-sponsored tactical airlift exercise conducted in New Zealand. The Royal Australian Air Force, Republic of Singapore Air Force and the French Armed Forces of New Caledonia also participated. Kiwi Flag personnel also provided cargo and passenger airlift including tactical air drops to Exercise Southern Katipo, New Zealand Defence Force’s largest-ever multilateral joint force amphibious exercise with eight other nations participating.
