In times of fiscal constraint, maintenance work orders face scrutiny

The Kashim Club is demolished Feb. 4 at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson after more than 50 years as a hub of entertainment for Airmen. The club was an Alaska fixture, serving as the 11th Air Force club throughout World War II, then as a club for noncommissioned officers, before opening to all ranks. The club was closed in early 2012 due to lack of business. The Air Force, in an effort to reduce infrastructure, chose to demolish the building. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Raymond Mills)
