Denali cavalrymen take rite of passage during spur ride

Paratroopers with the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, work to setup a VRC-90 radio during the unit’s spur ride May 27 at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The paratroopers completed the spur ride to earn the highly coveted Silver Spurs. The spurs are earned by cavalrymen who complete rigorous physical and mental tests based on cavalry tasks, history and tradition. (U.S. Army photo/Capt. John Orendorff)
