1 Geronimo Soldiers honor WWII legacy of 501st veterans
Robert Wright Sr. stands on the very spot where he landed after parachuting from the C-47 Skytrain on which he made the cross-channel invasion. Wright Sr., along with fellow 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment medic Kenneth Moore, converted the church in Angovilleau-Plain, France, into a makeshift first aid station, providing aid to some 80 American and German soldiers as well as a local child from the village. The undated photo was taken by Bobby Feuillyoke, who was a 13-year-old boy living in Vierville, France on June 6, 1944. (U.S. Army photos/Maj. Adam Hallmark)
