Japanese soldiers visit U.S. Army Alaska

Army Maj. Gen. Michael Shields, commanding general of U.S. Army Alaska, along with Japanese Ground Self-Defense Forces soldiers, led arctic warriors during USARAK’s annual Army Birthday Run June 26 outside the perimeter gate of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. The JGSDF service members celebrated the Army’s birthday during their week-long visit for a subject matter exchange event with U.S. Army Soldiers from across Alaska.
