Firefighters prepare victim for transport during Alaska Shield/Northern Edge 07
FAIRBANKS, Alaska (May 8, 2007) – Emergency Medical Technicians from the Steese, Alaska, fire department and a firefighter from the fire department here prepare a simulated mass casualty victim for movement as part of a train derailment scenario for Alaska Shield/Northern Edge 07. AKS/NE 07 is a State of Alaska/US NORTHCOM sponsored homeland defense/defense support of civil authorities exercise; part of the national-level Ardent Sentry/Northern Edge 07. It’s an opportunity to practice responding to homeland defense and disaster events with the federal, state, local & private-sector team.
