Alaska and Nebraska Guardsmen work together during Alaska Shield/Northern Edge 07
NORTH POLE, Alaska – Tech. Sgt. Everett Emerson, an Air National Guard medic from Kulis Air National Guard Base, Alaska, directs Nebraska National Guardsmen to exercise victims in need of medical attention after a simulated terrorist attack on the North Pole Refinery Complex May 9. Civilian, military and other government agencies participated in the exercise scenario simulating a multiple vehicle attack and mass casualty situation. The May 9 scenario was part of the Alaska Shield/Northern Edge 2007 exercise, which is scheduled from May 7-18. The exercise is designed to test agencies’ preparedness, interaction and response to a variety of incidents from natural disasters to terrorist attacks and other emergencies. (Staff Sgt. J.G.
