Arctic Warriors join battle against MS
KENAI PENINSULA, ALASKA -- Maj. Julie Ostrand and Capt. Wendy Koehler arrive in Seward after completing the first leg of the Alaska MS Bike Ride. The ride took participants from Mile Post 63 on the peninsula along the Seward Highway to Seward, Alaska. Consistent and sometimes heavy rains didn't prevent Major Ostrand and Captain Koehler, both nurse practitioners at the 3rd Medical Group, and other 'Arctic Warriors' from Elmendorf Air Force Base, from completing the ride, which took place Sept. 8 and 9. People who took the 126-mile round trip ride saw extreme elevation gains challenging even the most experienced of the 200 riders. All proceeds from this event raised money for the Nation Multiple Sclerosis Society. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Keith Brown)
