Maggie arrives at her new home

SAN ANDREAS, Calif. -- Maggie, a 25-year-old African elephant, checks out her new home at Performing Animals Welfare Society, or PAWS, after the journey from Anchorage, Alaska, to here on a Air Force C-17 Globemaster III Nov. 2.
