Members from the 611th Civil Engineer Squadron cut through the ice during Ice Ops 2010, Feb. 24, at Sixmile Lake, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. During this exercise members from the 611th CES, U.S. Coast Guardsmen and Navy's Supervisor of Salvage practiced with the equipment and techniques designed for surface and under-ice spills. Technicians use this training for real-world spill response, such as the recent fuel spills at Adak Island and the spill that resulted from tug that ran aground at Bligh Reef.
