9/11: Community remembers, honors the lost
Hoisted by two ladder trucks, the U.S. flag is raised by members of the Anchorage Fire Department prior to the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, Saturday at the newly re-dedicated Alaska Fallen Firefighter Memorial at Fire Station No. 1 in downtown Anchorage. The memorial was moved from its original location on Airport Heights to 4th Avenue, and its re-dedication was part of the ceremony which saw hundreds turn out to pay their respects to the 343 fire fighters who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks.
