Tops In Blue Airman performs for home station
Airmen belonging to the Air Force Tops in Blue special unit perform Lee Greenwood’s “Proud to Be an American,” Saturday. Despite initial difficulties in getting set pieces in on time, Tops in Blue staged a free full-blown production at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson’s Talkeetna Theater Saturday and Sunday for troops and family members. JBER was one of the last stops for the 2010 Tops in Blue unit, which will perform at this year’s Super Bowl before making way for the 2011 ensemble. The tour enters its 58th year and features the Air Force’s top talented non-professional vocalists and instrumentalists representing many career fields. The team performed a variety of carefully choreographed acts ranging from Lady Gaga to Montgomery Gentry. JBER’s own Airman 1st Class Edward Whittle Jr., a command post apprentice, played keyboard.
