Deicer keeps mission from freezing

A marshalling Airman turns his back to avoid the inevitable cloud of spray, broken by bright sunlight, as A Global Ground Support Aircraft Deicer truck finishes spraying the C-17 Globemaster III on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska's flight line January 17, 2011. When ice forms in the extreme cold temperatures, it can throw off the aerodynamics of aircraft and risk the mission, equipment and lives. Maintainers work diligently to ensure all aircraft are properly maintained and protected from the elements to continue flying safely. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Robert Barnett)
