Alaskan NORAD Region keeps Santa safe, on schedule
JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Tech. Sgt. David Taylor, 176th Air Control Squadron weapon director technician, monitors Alaskan airspace on the same radar scope he'll use to track Santa's flight Christmas Eve. This radar scope will allow controllers to track Santa’s flight path and ensure his, and his reindeer’s, safety while underway December 24. Sergeant Taylor, an Anchorage, Alaska, native, works in the Alaskan NORAD Region Regional Air Operations Center (RAOC), a component of ANR comprised of Active Guard members, Canadian Component servicemembers, and active duty augmentees.
