USS Anchorage commissioned amidst falling snow
Pacific Ocean (April 23, 2013) Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) 2nd Class Wilmer Ramos, assigned to San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22), turns to check the departure airspace as he directs the launch of an MV-22 Osprey assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 163 on the flight deck of Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Anchorage (LPD 23). Air Department Sailors from San Diego are aboard Anchorage earning qualifications and maintaining proficiency while the ship is underway.
