Anchors Aweigh-USS Anchorage leaves namesake port for first duty

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- The USS Anchorage (LPD-23), a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship, is seen May 6, 2013, departing its namesake port of Anchorage, Alaska, framed by city's downtown and Chugach Mountain Range. The vessel officially joined the U.S. Navy during a commissioning ceremony held at the port on May 4, and holds a complement of approximately 700 Sailors and Marines.
