Arctic Warrior of the Week
U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Ashley Alfonzo, a 673d Aerospace Medical Squadron public health technician, receives Arctic Warrior of the Week award from U.S. Air Force Col. Patricia A. Csànk, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and 673d Air Base Wing commander, and U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Lee Mills, 673d Air Base Wing command chief, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, July 8, 2020. Alfonzo led a team of three Airmen in the Deployment Medicine Section, this involved liaisons with six clinics and 45 Unit Deployment Monitors to process 344 deploying personnel to support missions across 24 countries, resulting in zero early returns. Additionally, her team redeployed 257 personnel, ensuring all health assessments, blood tests and medical referrals were completed on time. Finally, Alfonzo identified 37 personnel returning from high risk COVID-19 areas and facilitated medical interviews to assess risk and prevent possible spread to the installation’s population. The Arctic Warrior of the Week is an award highlighting JBER’s top-performing Airmen.
