JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will host the biennial Arctic Thunder Open House Aug. 8 and 9, 2026, featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels for the first time in 10 years.
To ensure guests have a safe, secure and enjoyable experience, follow the guidelines for authorized and prohibited items below.
Authorized items include:
- Personal carts or wheelchairs for physically challenged visitors
- Strollers for small children
- Official service dogs
- Binoculars
- Folding chairs and lawn chairs
- Photo/video cameras (must be small enough to carry by hand)
We highly recommend bringing:
- Empty water bottles
- Sunscreen
- Hearing protection
- Sunglasses
- Sunhats/baseball caps
NOTE: Bags cannot be larger than 22in x 16in x 10in. This includes diaper bags and camera bags. Limit one bag per person.
Prohibited items include:
- UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) or UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) of any kind
- Coolers
- Alcohol
- Illegal drugs including cannabis/marijuana
- Duffel bags
- Large purses or camera bags
- Camelbaks
- Paint
- Balloons
- Weapons
- Scooters, skates, skateboards
- Go-carts
- Wagons
- Military uniforms worn by non-military members
- Umbrellas
