JBER hosts 39th Military Retiree Appreciation Day May 3

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson will host its 39th Annual Retiree Appreciation Day on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Arctic Warrior Event Center, 9387 Kuter Ave.

The event begins at 10 a.m. and is open to all military retirees and their families.

The event will feature guest speakers Verdie Bowen Sr., director of the State of Alaska Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and Mirta Guerrero-Rohde, TriWest Healthcare Alliance, followed by a question-and-answer session. Attendees are invited to enjoy lunch at the Iditarod Dining Facility (pay-as-you-go), visit informational booths, and participate in a health and wellness fair.

Personal document shredding services will be available on site, with up to three boxes of free shredding offered per attendee as a safeguard against identity theft.

Representatives from various state, federal, and veterans’ organizations will be present to share information about available services for retirees and their families.

Military retirees who need a new identification card are reminded to bring two valid forms of photo ID. ID card processing will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the People Center, 8517 20th Street, Suite 111.

Attendees are also encouraged to participate in monthly Retiree Council meetings on the third Thursday of each month from September through April at 6 p.m. The next council meeting will take place Sept. 18, 2025.
